Adding cameras later? First make sure the recorder handles their resolution and has enough recording bandwidth, and that a power or PoE port is free for each one.

You can open the builder with this kit already loaded, then swap the cameras, pick a bigger drive or choose longer cables. It checks each change for you, so everything you end up with will work together.

Built around the Hikvision IDS-7208HUHI-M1/E (8 channels, 8MP, 1U, H.265, AcuSense), this kit comes with one 8MP 4K smart dual light fixed turret, 2.8mm lens camera. The 4TB hard drive is pre-installed in the recorder.
Cabling is coax: one 20m RG59 BNC video and power lead for each camera. Measure the route from each camera position back to the recorder before ordering.

Recording around the clock in H.265, that holds roughly 92 days of footage. Our sum allows 1 Mbps for each camera of 2MP or less, 2 Mbps for each one above that up to 5MP, and 4 Mbps for each one sharper than 5MP, added together when the cameras are not all the same model. Your own settings, how busy each view is and how much of the drive is usable all change the true number. With motion-only recording, it comes down to how often something moves in view.

First, look over the box list: it names the power supplies, cables and mounting parts included. Then plan where each camera goes and how long each cable needs to be, because knowing how many cameras you have does not tell you what they will cover. At every spot, check what the lens can see, the lighting, and how exposed the camera will be to the weather.
