All eight inputs are used in this kit, so it is a finished system for a larger home, a shop with a yard or a small unit. Every camera listens as well as watches, and every one keeps colour in the dark.
These 5MP turrets (2560 × 1944) use ColorVu white light, reaching 25 metres, for colour pictures after dark. A built-in microphone sends sound down the coax when the recorder supports audio over coax. The fixed 2.8mm lens gives a wide view.
In the box: the 8-channel iDS-7208HQHI-M1/XT recorder; 8 5MP ColorVu audio turret cameras; 8 RG59 BNC video leads of 20m, each with a DC power tail; a 12V 5A power supply with a built-in 8-way splitter; a 1.5m HDMI cable and a 2TB hard drive, already fitted. You provide a monitor with an HDMI input and a place to mount each camera. The recorder takes HDTVI, AHD, CVI, CVBS and IP inputs, records up to 5MP Lite or 3K Lite at 12 frames per second and has one SATA bay for up to 10TB.
Fitting is straightforward. Mount the 8 cameras, run each 20m lead back to the recorder, plug the power tails into the supplied power supply and connect a monitor over HDMI. Check the camera type on the recorder at first set-up, then set the recording schedule.
With every channel filled, it is complete as supplied. Other eight-camera sets are in the 8 camera kits.

The 8 cameras in the box use 8 of the 8 channels on the recorder. There is a camera on every channel already. For a bigger system, the next step is a recorder with more channels.
Around 11 days of footage
There is 2TB of storage in the box.
Recording around the clock in H.265, that holds roughly 11 days of footage. Our sum allows 1 Mbps for each camera of 2MP or less, 2 Mbps for each one above that up to 5MP, and 4 Mbps for each one sharper than 5MP, added together when the cameras are not all the same model. Your own settings, how busy each view is and how much of the drive is usable all change the true number. With motion-only recording, it comes down to how often something moves in view.
Coax (HD analogue) system

First, look over the box list: it names the power supplies, cables and mounting parts included. Then plan where each camera goes and how long each cable needs to be, because knowing how many cameras you have does not tell you what they will cover. At every spot, check what the lens can see, the lighting, and how exposed the camera will be to the weather.
