A DVR, the recorder for coax cameras
A coax (HD analogue) camera.
It sends TVI video: check your DVR takes it.
Check your recorder takes 8 MP cameras.
Not sure which recorder you have? A DVR has a row of round twist-on (BNC) camera sockets on the back; an NVR has none.
Starting a new system? See our coax camera kits.
Hikvision's DS-2CE78U0T-LPTS is a turret camera that records 8MP (3840 × 2160) over HD-TVI. Because it carries sound as well as picture, it fits a front door or gate where you need to talk to whoever is standing there.
Microphone and speaker are built in. Audio travels down the same coax run as the video, so there is no second cable, but the recorder must support audio over coax and be a Hikvision DVR. Two light sources are fitted: white light reaches about 20m for colour pictures at night, and infrared reaches about 30m when you would rather not light the area up. You choose the mode to suit the position and the recorder.
The turret body can go on a wall or ceiling, and the IP67 rating covers outdoor use. It outputs TVI, AHD, CVI or CVBS, so older DVRs on existing coax can often take it too.
