A big kit generates a lot of footage, and a recording server can take far more than a standard recorder. This Lenovo ThinkSystem 12TB drive, part number 01MP633, is an enterprise-class 3.5-inch SATA drive for Lenovo ThinkSystem servers and storage arrays.
It runs at 7200 RPM over a SATA 6Gb/s interface, and is designed for RAID setups and for continuous running in data centres. The product data lists CCTV recording servers, backup systems and file servers among its uses.
Compatibility is the thing to check. It is made for Lenovo ThinkSystem platforms, so confirm that your server or array takes a 3.5-inch SATA drive before buying. It is not a drop-in for a small kit recorder unless that recorder takes 3.5-inch SATA drives of this capacity.
