Twelve cameras is a common count for a pub, a larger shop or a mid-sized yard, and this kit supplies the lot: recorder, cameras, drive, leads and power. The recorder is the Hikvision iDS-7216HQHI-M1/XT with 16 channels, so four channels are left for later cameras.
The cameras are 3K Smart Hybrid Light ColorVu fixed turrets. Each arrives with a 20m RG59 shotgun lead, BNC for video and DC for power. A 6TB drive is installed in the recorder's single SATA bay.
Recording runs at 3K/5MP Lite at 12fps using H.265 Pro+, and the recorder reads HDTVI, AHD, CVI, CVBS and IP signals. AcuSense classifies humans and vehicles, which helps cut down on alerts caused by branches and shadows.
Power is split two ways: a 12V 5A supply with a built-in 8-way splitter and a 12V 3A supply with a 4-way splitter, which together serve all twelve cameras. A 1.5m 4K HDMI cable connects to your monitor, which is not included.
Twelve cameras need a tidy power layout. Put the 8-way and 4-way splitters near the recorder, label which cameras plug into which, and use the remaining outlet capacity for later cameras. Check each channel's night picture once all twelve are mounted, since a camera facing a street light can need a different angle.
Other sizes
The same recorder and cameras, packed for a different number of views.

In the box
The 12 cameras in the box use 12 of the 16 channels on the recorder. So there are 4 channels left over if you want more cameras later.
Adding cameras later? First make sure the recorder handles their resolution and has enough recording bandwidth, and that a power or PoE port is free for each one.
Around 23 days of footage
There is 6TB of storage in the box.
Recording around the clock in H.265, that holds roughly 23 days of footage. Our sum allows 1 Mbps for each camera of 2MP or less, 2 Mbps for each one above that up to 5MP, and 4 Mbps for each one sharper than 5MP, added together when the cameras are not all the same model. Your own settings, how busy each view is and how much of the drive is usable all change the true number. With motion-only recording, it comes down to how often something moves in view.
Coax (HD analogue) system
Plugs into the coax cable already in your walls.
First, look over the box list: it names the power supplies, cables and mounting parts included. Then plan where each camera goes and how long each cable needs to be, because knowing how many cameras you have does not tell you what they will cover. At every spot, check what the lens can see, the lighting, and how exposed the camera will be to the weather.
