UKVISIONModel UK-SW-8-1000-P
Available
The UKVISION UK-SW-8-1000-P is a gigabit PoE switch for CCTV. It has eight 10/100/1000Mbps PoE+ ports that follow IEEE 802.3af/at and supply as much as 30W to each camera or access point.
Total PoE power is 65W, so the sum of your cameras decides how many it can drive at full load. A built-in digital display shows the power in use, so you can see headroom before you plug in another camera instead of finding out when one fails to start.
Extend mode takes the run to 250 metres at reduced bandwidth, which helps with a camera at the far end of a long cable. VLAN mode isolates ports to reduce broadcast traffic and improve stability on a surveillance network.
Every port auto-negotiates speed and cable type, so ordinary patch leads are enough. There is no software to set up: the switch is unmanaged and starts working when connected.
Gigabit ports matter when several high-resolution cameras share one cable to the recorder, or when you may later add faster cameras. If your cameras are modest, the 10/100 model, the UK-SW-8-100-P, does a similar job at lower port speed. Before ordering, list each camera's power draw and add the figures up; if the total stays under 65W with a little spare, the switch will run them all.
