UKVISIONModel UK-SW-4-100-P
Available
The UKVISION UK-SW-4-100-P is a small PoE switch for a kit that is full but needs a few more cameras. Four ports supply power and data to IP cameras, and two more ports connect upward to your recorder, router or another switch.
All ports run at 10/100Mbps, which is plenty for ordinary IP camera streams. The PoE ports follow IEEE 802.3af/at and give up to 30W each, but the total budget is 65W, so four cameras of 10W or so are fine and larger ones need adding up first.
A built-in digital display shows PoE power consumption as it happens, so you can see how close to the limit you are after adding a camera. Extend mode carries data up to 250 metres at reduced bandwidth, and VLAN mode isolates ports to reduce broadcast traffic.
There is nothing to configure: the switch is unmanaged and works as soon as it is connected. It suits residential and small commercial systems.
If you want faster ports, choose the gigabit version, the UK-SW-4-1000-P. For longer runs, plan to use Extend mode and expect a lower speed. Tip: if the display shows the load close to 65W, add up the cameras again before connecting another device to this switch, because the budget is shared across all four ports.
